  • UL, IEC international standard certified product line, widely applicable to industrial, building, and renewable energy facilities.

The Raycap product line is optimized for not only the energy sector but also industrial, building, and digital power grid applications, and is available in a variety of specifications.

IEC 61643-31, 32, and 41 are international standards for surge protective devices (SPDs) in photovoltaic (PV) installations and DC systems, each defining specific requirements, tests, and application guides .

IEC 61643-31

  • Scope : Specifies the requirements and test methods for surge protection devices on the DC side (up to 1,500 V DC) of solar power generation facilities.

Technical details :

  • Protects the DC side of the PV system from lightning or other transient overvoltages (surges).

  • Specify performance characteristics (surge immunity, protection level), safety, and standard tests (impulse discharge current, maximum continuous operating voltage, etc.).

  • Applies only to permanently installed (fixed) SPDs, installed on the DC input side of solar power generators and inverters.

  • Includes production, installation, maintenance and acceptance testing.

  • Related tests : IEC 60060, IEC 60529 (IP Code), IEC 62475 (high current test), IEC 61643-11 (except dual port for DC).

IEC 61643-32

  • Scope of application : Provides principles for selection and application of SPDs connected to photovoltaic (PV) installations .

Technical details :

  • When installing SPD on the DC and AC side, selection, method, application location, cable cross-section area, and grounding method are specified.

  • Calculation of SPD test ratings, surge current values, and bonding conductor cross-sections according to various PV system structures.

  • Differences in SPD application principles depending on the presence or absence of an external lightning protection (LPS) system and the installation distance (safety distance).

  • Provides location-specific and environment-specific installation guidelines for effective lightning/switching surge protection.

  • Test/Installation Guide : Separate installation principles for each PV source/array, inverter, and connector, and application of SPD recommendations for each system and test grade.

IEC 61643-41

  • Scope : Defines performance standards and test methods for surge protection devices used in renewable and DC power sources, such as energy storage systems (ESS) and DC microgrids.

Technical details :

  • Specifies component-specific performance, test parameters, failure modes, and reliability criteria for DC high-voltage (typically 1,500 V or less) loads.

  • Confirming the required characteristics and safety of SPDs in ESS/BESS, DC battery/charging infrastructure, and new renewable microgrid systems.

  • Details : Based on IEC-61643-31, including extended test items and requirements specific to DC energy storage environments.

These standards are essential references in fields requiring reliable surge protection and international certification in PV and DC power systems.
